Have you been having difficulty trying to personalise your newly acquired iPhone with your own personal ring tone? If you have tried the Create ringtone… option in iTunes, it will simply tell you, “You can create iPhone ring tones only from Songs purchased from the iTune Store”. I cannot purchase music from iTune store because I have registered as a Singapore user. It seems that the only way to do it is to own an American iTunes account, purchase the song and convert it as a ringtone. Well, what puts me off is the word “Purchase”.
Allow me to show the readers of SGTOP10 on how you can load your own personalized ring tone to your iPhone.
I know 10 steps is kinda complex but then nothing beats having your favourite ah beng ring tone in your beloved iPhone and best thing is you do not have to Jailbreak your iPhone to do so.
Oh and this is SGTOP10, we usually count our numbers backwards, starting with Step #10…
Open iTunes.
Your can download FREE iTunes if you do not already have it installed in your PC or Mac.
Choose the Song to convert
Right click on any song that you would like to create your new iPhone ring tone. Then choose GET INFO

Select length of song to convert
Got to options tab, check the START and STOP TIME check boxes and input the timing of when you would like the ring tone to start and stop. Remember to keep the song section to 30 Seconds only. Click OK.

Covert to AAC
Right click on the song again and select CREATE AAC VERSION.

Move the AAC file to desktop
The conversion should not take too long for a 30 seconds segment. Locate the converted AAC file in the iTunes library and move it to DESKTOP
Deleting the 30 seconds song segment from iTunes
Now go back to iTunes and delete the 30 seconds segment.
Right click on song in desktop
Right click the song in desktop and select RENAME
Changing the extension
Change the extension of the song to .M4r.

Play in iTunes
Double click the new *.M4r ring tone and it will include this file in the ring tone segment of your iTunes library.
Sync your iPhone
There we go, all you need to do now is to sync your iPhone and you should have your own customised ah beng ring tone for your iPhone.
