With the PC show coming to an end, the next upcoming major event that is Truly Singapore, is the first ever Asian Youth Games 2009 hosted right here in Singapore! First Asian Youth Games
This is the very first Asian Youth Games and Singapore was selected as the host, by all 45 members of the OCA ( Olympic Council of Asia’s ) on 6th April , 2008. This event is part of Singapore bid’s to host the Summer Youth Olympics (YOG) in 2010. The games will prepare Singapore in terms of Organisational and Logistical support readiness well in advance of the 2010 YOG.
Once every 4 years
The Asian Youth Games (AYG) is an international multi-sports event held every four years to complement the existing Asian Games>
Total of 90 events
Asian Youth Games Singapore 2009 will see athletes aged between 14 and 17 from 45 OCA member nations competing in 90 events across nine sports
The Logo
The symbol is a unique combination of two overlapping and complimentary starbusts. This visual closeness of two starts that merge into one reflects the strong ties that have bonded over the years amongst the Asian countries for this international sporting event. The star also symbolises the excellence each participating sportsman and sportswoman brings, and we salute their sportsmanship with a blue green athlete embedded within the star symbol. The synergy of the dynamic color palette highlights the diverse participating Asian Nations that come together in celebration of youth, sports and friendship.

Mascot
The official mascot is the Frasia ( Pronounced as Fra-sher ) meaning “Friends of Asia”. It is the embodiment of the values and spirit associated with Olympism – friendship, respect and excellence. It also constitutes to a spirited representation of young hearts and minds in pursuit of sporting excellence.
The Medals
The Games’ medals were unveiled on May12, 2009. The medal is an embodiment of the spirit of the Games, with the Asia Youth Games logo as its centrepiece. The Olympic values of ‘Excellence, Friendship, and Respect’ are embossed down the side of the champion’s ribbon. The reverse side of the medal features Frasia, the sprightly Asia Youth Games mascot, to symbolise the friendships forged through the Games. The orchid, Singapore’s national flower, is inscribed to represent the host nation. To celebrate the spirit of sportsmanship, ten sports pictograms are engraved in the ribbon design
Costs
The Singapore Sports Council spearheaded the organisation of the games, and this is expected to cost at least $13 million, which is part of the $130 million set aside for Youth Olympic Games
The Opening Ceremony
The Opening Ceremony is themed “Asia’s Youth, Our Future” and it brings more than 1,400 performers from 20 schools and tertiary institutions together in an exciting display of teamwork and vigor.
